Spring Season in here!!

Spring has been well underway here in the southeast and things are shaping up to be a great paddling season across the country. With 2 US Freestyle point series events already finished in the East, it has been an eventful spring to say the least. After getting my new Project X 56 in January, Haley Mills and I have been training hard getting ready for the full series.

Besides hopefully paddling some new creeks and rivers along the way this season, a big goal this year is to compete at as many point series events as possible. The events start out east and then quickly move out to the West. Here is a link to the list of events that will host the Freestyle Point Series.

Training has been tough this winter in the Southeast, but It has been a warm spring and with temps now in the 70's, its going to be hard to head west in a few weeks for some cold spring boating. Here are some of the of my top gear pics for this year that have kept me stoked this winter.

After years of input, wavesport nailed it with this new playboat. A great all around playboat that does what you want it to. Here's some clips from last week in NJ and TN

Without a doubt my favorite piece of gear bought this year. It has kept me super dry through all the playboat training sessions and while paddling the icy rivers in the southeast this winter. The new 4 layer fabric has taken a beating and still kept me happy at the takeout.

This board has been crucial for keeping me in shape this winter. Its been great on flat water as well as easy rivers here in the south. There are even some small river waves that have been getting me stoked for some real surf in places like BV, Salida, and Glenwood.

After a few paddle strokes with the Advantage, the difference from an entry level paddle was obvious. More responsiveness and power make this my new favorite for Stand up Paddling.

After spending the week here on the Nantahala river in NC training for the NOC Shootout, Haley and I will be heading to Reno for the freestyle comp and the grueling SUP Race. After Reno its time to head back to Ark River Valley for some work on the river and my favorite Event of the Summer. PaddleFest. After hearing the line up for clinics, bands, events, and competitions, its going to be a great event. Hope to see everyone there this year for a great kickoff for the Colorado boating season.
Here is a few of my favorite boating pics from the winter to hopefully get everyone stoked on Spring Boating.
